Late Work Policy
When daily work or large projects come in past the scheduled due date, the work has traditionally been worth only 70%. In my class I am offering students the option of turning in their late work without the late penalty. The late penalty can be avoided with a parent/guardian’s signature on the late work, a brief reason why it was delayed, and a new due date proposed. If you feel that your work is late for reasons beyond your control (unexpected emergency, confusion over the assignment, struggling to master the concept, etc.) then you have the option of having a parent/guardian sign your late work and avoid the late point reduction. |
If, however, your parent/guardian doesn't feel that you had a good reason to still get full credit for your late work (maybe they feel that you used your time poorly) then they may decide to not sign your late work. You can still turn it in to me, and will receive the reduced points as per the grade level late policy.
I am doing this with several goals in mind…
I will be sending a copy of this policy home with each student. I am asking that each family sign the bottom of this letter. Once it is signed, return it to me so I can be sure that you understand your options under this new system.
I am doing this with several goals in mind…
- Increase student/parent/teacher cooperation in an easy and effective manner.
- Help keep parents informed on the number of late assignments their child has turned in to my class.
- Allow families the flexibility needed with deadlines when unexpected events occur, or when their child needs more time to master a concept.
